Mulan International Film Festival (MulanIFF) is a fledging not-for-profit aiming to become the place where the future of pan-Chinese cinema meets the world. Founded in 2018 and based in Toronto, Canada, MulanIFF is a very small team, mostly consisting of volunteers, that has a passion for making a huge impact.

The programming team serves as the nucleus of MulanIFF, and turns our artistic and curatorial visions into engaging and unique programming of our annual festival and year-round events. In the role of Assistant Programmer, you will be responsible for forming an impeccable experience for our audience. From selecting films to planning post-screening Q&A, your curatorial vision will help shape the future of pan-Chinese cinemas. Reporting to Artistic Director, you will work on:

  • Managing the festival submission process and organizing submission materials
  • Liaising with filmmakers, distributors, and international sales to expand programming opportunities
  • Identifying outreach opportunities to connect new audiences with emerging filmmakers
  • Identifying potential presenting partners for specific films and programmes
  • Writing and organizing all publicity information and materials related to films and screenings
  • Introducing films to the audience and hosting Q&As with filmmakers

In the role of Coordinator, Government Relations, you will be responsible for maintaining strong government relations with key agencies and supporting our overall funding strategy and operations. Media partners, whether specialized in film or of general interests, play a critical role in helping MulanIFF deliver its core mission and daily operations. Getting our beloved audience successfully into the venue is no easy feat, and stellar ticketing and customer support are the critical pillars of strength. In the role of Coordinator, Ticketing & Customer Support, you will be responsible for making sure that our audience gets the right tickets on time. Managing the ins and outs of the many digital and physical film media is fundamental to the smooth operation of our screening events. In the role of Coordinator, Print Traffic, you will be responsible for the secure and timely inbound and outbound traffic of all film media we handle. Reporting to Director, Screening Events, you will work on defining and fine-tuning the print traffic management process, coordinating with our programming team, filmmakers and distributors on the transferring of film media, and securely managing the logistics of the media while they are under our custody.

From website and graphic assets to programme books and posters, these are the face and embodiment of our artistic vision and main visuals. In the role of Graphic Designer, you will be responsible for translating our artistic visions and main visuals into consistent, comprehensive, and high-quality graphic assets and print materials.
