Screening and In-Person Q&A with Director & Producer
Born into the Chinese community in Costa Rica, filmmaker Nicole Chi Amén decided to go to China for the first time after her grandmother Guián’s death, in an attempt to rediscover her roots and come to terms with the duality of her identity. The result is a sublime, cinematic, and intimate travelogue in which sensuous shots capture the essence of a place and its people, in spite of linguistic differences.
