Suk-jing (Hedwig TAM) finally welcomes her baby daughter into the world—but sleepless nights soon follow. Every time the baby cries, all fingers point to the mother. Her husband is conveniently absent, her parenting clashes with her mother-in-law’s, and her own family is too busy helping her brother and sister-in-law with their kids. On top of that, she struggles with physical trauma: she can’t pump milk, suffers from postpartum incontinence, and loses the bakery job she loves. When a woman becomes a mother, is that all she’s allowed to be?
