Lilly HU both directs and stars in this vivid portrait of intimacy, desire, and love. An visually stylish debut based on a true experience, two teenage girls, Yin Jia (CHEN Xuanyu) and Tong Tong (Lilly HU), live together in this colour-drenched vision of Changsha, China. When Tong Tong drifts away and falls in with a drug dealer, Yin Jia’s love for her means she’ll risk everything to keep Tong Tong by her side.

Born in southern China, Lilly Hu first began studying filmmaking at the National Taiwan University of the Arts. Her first film was a short documentary about the living conditions of female artists in Chengdu, made for the International Chinese Women’s Film Festival in 2017. Her award-winning AFI thesis film Cold War (2021), continues to explore female issues, as it centers around the desperate acts of a young Chinese woman experiencing an unplanned pregnancy while studying abroad alone in Los Angeles. 1 Girl Infinite is her debut feature film.
